Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre
A Unique Shopping Experience
Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre is a unique place to shop, eat, and explore, offering a world of outdoor discovery at the gateway to the Nene Wetlands. It combines a modern shopping centre with the natural world, promoting the environment – something that we are happy to be a part of. As part of the development, they asked us to build several rustic creations that incorporated elements of the local environment. These included giant animal sculptures and carvings based upon the local wildlife, a pond dipping platform, a picnic shelter, and four nature-themed play areas. Collectively, these creations encourage locals to garner a greater interest in nature and local wildlife.
Giant Animal Sculptures
We made a series of giant bird and hare sculptures based on local wildlife, each one constructed from metal frames and finished with hand woven willow. These are located by busy thoroughfares, making them extremely memorable to visitors.

Wooden Carvings Of Local Wildlife
Incorporating many different creatures from the local wildlife, including insects, fish, mammals, and birds, we placed many carvings around the site for visitors to discover. These delightful little finds will be memorable for all and exciting to discover.

Picnic Shelter & Pond Dipping Platform
We built a rustic picnic shelter with a footbridge, encouraging visitors to eat outside, yet still protecting them from the elements (to some extent). Nearby we installed a pond dipping platform with a safety gate.

Four Nature-Themed Play Areas
As part of our sister company that specialises in bespoke play equipment, Flights of Fantasy, we built four nature themed play areas. Each one incorporates elements of the local flora or fauna, offering a memorable and engaging play experience for children of all ages.
